Ranting About Coins and How They’re Useless [Again]

By Theo Town

If you haven’t read my penny article, you should read it first: Who Cares About 1 Cent?

Slightly Useless and Silver

First of all, the nickel is just plain pointless. nickel costs, and I’m not joking, almost 14 CENTS TO PRODUCE! 14 cents for a little 5-cent disk. That is the highest cost to make a coin in the US.

The nickel is perhaps more useless than the penny since if you have 95 cents and the thing you want to buy is $1.00, you simply hand the clerk a nickel, but it is then reduced to 99 cents, so you either overspend or underpay, whereas pennies allow you to pay the precise amount. The nickel on paper seems like a good idea for currency, but its really not.

Also an an honorable mention the nickel isnt even made of nickel its more copper that nickel In A cIoN CaLLed ThE NickEL throughout the almost 160 years its been around, your wallet has never grasped a pure nickel disk… unless your a weirdo who puts pure nickel disks in your wallet for some reason
