Terrapin Times Retrospective & Futurespective

Written By Clyde (Retrospective) & Archer (Futurespective)

Retrospective

This has been a journey, there is no doubt about it. From the day I started Newspaper in 2021 when I was a sixth grader,  I’ve tried to make it an integral part of this community, and I hope I’ve succeeded in that endeavor. I was part of a newspaper at my elementary school, and the wonderful encouraging environment there made me want to create one at BKI as well. Newspapers add so much to schools. Newspapers provide platforms for students to share their interests and goals for the school with others. I wanted BKI students to have the chance to participate in this like I did at my previous school.

There’s definitely been a lot of changes in the club over its 3 years, but I’m proud to say we’ve churned out issues throughout. I also want to thank Archer D’Angelo and Mr. Grijalva for their immense help with making this club possible. Without Mr. Grijalva agreeing to sacrifice his Monday afternoons and helping create the website, none of this would have happened. Archer as well has been an integral cog in the Terrapin Times machine. Archer has put so much effort into continuing the club even when it was just me and him. I sincerely hope that this club is always a standard in the BKI community, even after I’m in high school. This club has really been a constant in my time here and I hope that any future members of the newspaper feel the same.

Futurespective

Hello and welcome to the second half of this article focusing on what is to come for the Terrapin Times. I am Archer D’Angelo, the other half of the Terrapin Times this year and I am very excited to announce that I will be the Editor-In-Chief for next year!

I am also very happy to announce some of our new ideas for next year. As Clyde is leaving we are very much in need of new students so, as an incentive to join we will try to have snacks at every newspaper meeting! (You still have to write to get the snacks though) I will be leading the newspaper but as I can’t do everything we will also be giving out many positions to those who want them. We will provide jobs such as Music Editor, Food Editor, Movie Editor, Sports Editor, Photographer, Tech Guru, and more! (You can obviously still write whatever you want though (As Clyde requested) We will try to do even more articles about the happenings at BKI next year as opposed to the history journal Clyde and I have organized for the last long while. We will still be meeting in Mr. Grijalva’s room every Monday as we always have so that’s where you should go when we start back up but I will probably aggressively advertise that into your head then so you don’t really have to remember.

I would like to thank Clyde for being a great editor for our newspaper for the last three years and I am very excited to take up his job and I hope I can do it as well as he did. Thanks for reading for the last three years and goodbye!
